Bishop's Search. The Diocesan Search and Nominating Committee continues to gather input on the skills and qualities wanted in our next bishop from as many voices in the Diocese as possible. Three listening or town hall meetings, open to all who wish to attend, will be held in late July: St. John's, Beltsville, MD, July 27, 7-9 pm.Christ Episcopal Church, Chaptico, MD, July 28, 7-9 pm.St. Alban's, Washington, DC, July 28, 7-9 pm.

St. James Day -- July 25. Remind your friends, former St. James members, and neighbors to put our annual St. James Day celebration on the calendar. Loose offerings collected that day will be donated to Pediatric AIDS/HIV Care. It is the only organization in the DC-Metro area devoted exclusively to providing vital support services for children living with HIV/AIDS. It focuses especially on supporting young persons orphaned and affected by the disease. Checks payable to the organization will be forwarded. Favorite Hymns for August.
Any hymns you want to sing? Let Daniel Elmer know five favorite hymns you would like to sing this summer. When he and Fr. Williams choose hymns for August, they will select from those you suggest. Bear in mind that August 15 is the Feast of the Virgin Mary, and we will want to sing some hymns to Mary on that day!

Food bank
To contribute to our weekly delivery to the Capital Area Food Bank, bring donations to the Parish Hall.

Vestry meetings
The Vestry holds its next monthly meeting July 31, instead of the usual third Thursday of the month, to accommodate vacation schedules. Vestry will hold a Planning Session on August 5. Vestry meeting minutes are on the table in church and website: www.smjec.org/Vestry.
